What do I need to start?
We’re currently available only to users based in the U.S. who have a mobile phone that can receive text messages. Your mobile phone is necessary both for verification and for you to receive text message notifications about your scheduled call(s) both before, during, and at the conclusion of your call. Our service doesn’t work if you probile have a landline.
You will also need to provide a credit card before you can contact experts to schedule a call
How much does Film cost?
Film is free to register for all users and the fees are variable and determined by each expert. You are typically charged for time that you have scheduled, any additional time requested, and any premium fees that might apply. Premium fees are indicated for certain call topics that might require advance review of your work or preparation time. These fees are indicated when the call is scheduled and summarized at the completion of the call. Many experts also choose to donate their fees to a charity of their choice.
Is there a cancellation fee?
Yes. If you cancel within 24 hours of the scheduled call, there is a 20% cancellation fee (of the scheduled time and any premium fees) that will be charged to your credit card.
When do I get charged?
We charge you at the completion of the call for the time you have scheduled, any additional time that you requested, and any premium fees.
How do you select your experts?
Experts on Film are by invitation-only and have demonstrated experience in the field. They have indicated their willingness to share that expertise and make it available. There are third-party organizations that may administer each site that validate identity of its experts. Sidetime provides no guarantee or validation of an expert’s identity or background.
Can I recommend an expert?
Yes. You’re welcome to contact us via our chat system or at [email protected] to suggest an expert or request additional expertise in a specific area for us to focus our recruiting efforts. We greatly appreciate your suggestion and we will pass your recommendations to the administrators of Film.
Who built the Film service?
The infrastructure for Film was built by Sidetime as a platform to help everyday people access expertise. We are a platform and do not endorse or qualify the expertise of any individuals who provide expertise on the platform. We are trying to help make it easier to find and make expertise more accessible. We’re based in Brooklyn.
Can I create my own expert community?
Yes! We also offer the Sidetime platform as a service to selected partners. Please contact us at [email protected] and we’re happy to discuss potential opportunities.
